St. Thomas College of Teacher Education was established in the year 2005 as a self-financing institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college is located at Mailacombu, a picturesque land scape surrounded by lush green fields, 1. 5 Km away from Ernakulam - Thodupuzha State Highway. It is believed that St, Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, visited the place where the college is located. A highly committted management with competent and dedicated faculty, scientifically planed infrastructural facilities with most modern laboratories, full -fledged teaching leadership setups have enabled STCTE to carve a niche for itself among the teacher education colleges in Kerala within a short span of time.
St. Thomas College of Teacher Education owes its existence to God through the farsighted vision of His Excellency Mar George Punnakottil and late Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Puthenkulam, the then Secretary of the Corporate Educational Agency, Diocese of Kothamangalam.
